2004 Season - Week 16

Play-offs taking shape, at last.

8 spots in the play-offs have been claimed with just 4 left to go. In the AFC the four Division winners have now been seeded with Pittsburgh ranked 1, New England 2, Indi 3 and San Diego 4. The wildcards are between the 10-5 Jets, the 9-6 Broncos who have the tie-breaker over 9-6 Buffalo. Not out are Baltimore & Jacksonville at 8-7. In the NFC Phili have Home Field Advantage and Atlanta the other bye week. Green Bay have won the North and Seattle (8-7) have clinched a play-off spot and will win the West if St Louis lose to the Eagles on MNF. Minnesota are in the first Wildcard spot at 8-7. Carolina and New Orleans are both 7-8 and play each other next week and St Louis at 6-8 are not out of it. All the rest of the crap has now been flushed. Peyton Manning. This just in, apparently he’s quite good (and he broke some record this week). Fame Again. Congratulations to Mark who joined Stampy in the Hall of Fame last week when Edgerrin James scored on Sunday night taking Mark’s weekly total to exactly 50. Mark now has a record setting 7th visit to the Hall, one more than AP. Player Hall of Fame voting. Don’t forget to send in your top 5 players (in order) for the BUMS Players Hall of Fame. The deadline is Wednesday January 12th but get your votes back to me asap and it’s another job out of the way. The nominee’s are Tony Dungy, John Gruden, Adam Vinatieri, Jeff Wilkins, Peyton Manning, Steve McNair, Edgerrin James, Jerome Bettis, Mike Alstott and Tony Gonzalez. Remember your top 5 is based on what they have done up to the start of this season (2004 stats don’t count). The full review of the nominee’s was sent out last week. If you need it again, just email me. BUMS on Seats. With this Xmas/New Year thing getting in the way of the end of the NFL regular season yet again, we will not be meeting for either the Sunday or Monday night games this week. That means our next gathering will be at BUMS HQ next Sunday from 6pm to see two games which could be key to the final wildcard spots. Sky have yet to announce the match-ups but could they possibly be New Orleans @ Carolina followed by Indianapolis @ Denver? HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all.
